About Me

My name is Becky. I am just on the south side of 40, but not for long. I'm a student nurse, now in my third year. Mental Health nursing is the branch I chose- with most of my family, including myself being on a spectrum between 'quirky' and 'barking' it seemed like the natural choice.

I first had an interest in computers when I was about nine years old. Sir Clive Sinclair launched his ZX81 machine and my dad bought me one as a Christmas gift. That was thirty years ago and I have been into computers since.

Over the years I have had quite a number of machines. Quite a few spectrums, including the Plus 3 which had a built in disc drive. The strangest machines I had were an Sanyo MSX and a Texas Instruments TI-994/A. The best of the bunch were the Acorns- I still have an A3000, a BBC Model B and a Risc PC.

There were a number of Apple machines too, scrappers that a friend used to get for me- I never warmed to them. These days have returned to using RISC OS on a daily basis through emulation software which allows you to turn your fugly windows PC (Or Mac) into an attractive, fast riscos machine running ,odern versions of the OS.

I would be pretentious if I called myself a skilled developer, but I do admit to having a familiarity with the following: COBOL, Comal, Pascal, BASIC (Various), C and HTML. All these web pages are 'hand coded' using a text editor.
