Series 2
The Land Rover had a very successful decade in which actual sales were substantially in excess of those predicted. However, time and indeed progress waits for nobody. The iconic vehicle had to be updated to protect it's share of the market. The Series 2 was launched in 1958 with a bigger engine and substantially updated bodywork.
The one-ton model was introduced in 1968 for enhanced carrying capacity and towing. Sadly (I think) the headlamps were moved from the grille to the wings in 1969, with a new designation, the Series 2a. Personally I reckon that if the lights are in the grille, its a proper land rover. I can't be doing with the new fangled ones.
