Series 3
Produced between 1971 and 1984 the Series 3 Land Rover was the last of it's breed before the company dropped the model in favour of their similar looking but radically different coil sprung designs. The Series 3 really evolved from the series two. There was no radical re-design this time.
The transmission was improved including a better designed cluch system and altered gearing ratios. The breaking system was overhauled and the electrics were updated including an alternator replacing the dynamo system. Externally the vehicle was not very different from the 2a models, but inside the cab something horrible had happened.
The iconic central dashboard pod had been removed from its place of over 20 years and replaced by the most hideous dashboard ever designed.
