Sinclair ZX Spectrum Plus 3

Sinclair Spectrum plus;3

The ZX Spectrum +3 was my own favourite incarnation of the beloved Speccy. I bought one in the late 1980s from Dixons, an infamous British retailer of the time. I remember the computer came with a promotional pack featuring a light gun and copy of Operation Wolf, which I was really awful at playing.

The +3 had the excellent keyboard that I mentioned on the +2 page. A key difference from the +2 was that the +3 had a built in disk drive which had the same three inch disk format as the AMSTRAD machines, including their word processors. This was at a time when 3.5 inch disks were rapidly becoming standard. Nice one Alan!

The 'down' side to the +3 was that there were changes internally that made it less compatible with earlier Speccys. The majority of software from before would run okay, but anything that had programming tricks that accessed some parts of the hardware would fail or not run properly.
